چکیده

Water contaminated with low concentrations of pollutants is more difficult to clean up than that high pollutant content levels. Membrane separation provides a solution for removing from water. However, membranes are prone fouling, losing performances over time. Here we synthesized neutral (IM-NH2) and positively charged (IL-NH2) imidazole derivatives chemically functionalize membranes. With distinct properties, these grafts could tailor membrane physicochemical properties structures benefit forward osmosis (FO) processes the removal 20-100 ppm Safranin O dye-a common dye employed in textile industry. The water fluxes produced by IM-NH2- IL-NH2-modified increased 67% 122%, respectively, DI as feed compared nascent membrane. A 39% flux increment complete retention (?100%) was achieved against 100 dye. Regardless concentration, exhibited steadily higher permeation performance original long-term experiments. Reproducible experimental results were obtained after cleaning water, demonstrating good antifouling renewability newly developed

Fouling distribution in forward osmosis membrane process.

Fouling behavior along the length of membrane module was systematically investigated by performing simple modeling and lab-scale experiments of forward osmosis (FO) membrane process. The flux distribution model developed in this study showed a good agreement with experimental results, validating the robustness of the model. This model demonstrated, as expected, that the permeate flux decreased ...

Forward osmosis membrane fouling and cleaning for wastewater reuse

Membrane fouling properties and different physical cleaning methods for forward osmosis (FO) and reverse osmosis (RO) laboratory-scale filtration systems were investigated. The membrane fouling, with respect to flux reduction, was lower in FO than in RO when testing an activated sludge effluent. Crossflow velocity, air-scouring, osmotic backwashing and effect of a spacer were compared to determ...

A Short Review of Membrane Fouling in Forward Osmosis Processes

Interest in forward osmosis (FO) research has rapidly increased in the last decade due to problems of water and energy scarcity. FO processes have been used in many applications, including wastewater reclamation, desalination, energy production, fertigation, and food and pharmaceutical processing. However, the inherent disadvantages of FO, such as lower permeate water flux compared to pressure ...

Nanoparticle fouling and its combination with organic fouling during forward osmosis process for silver nanoparticles removal from simulated wastewater

The increasing and wide application of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) has resulted in their appearance in wastewater. In consideration of their potential toxicity and environmental impacts, it is necessary to find effective technology for their removal from wastewater. Here, forward osmosis (FO) membrane was applied for Ag NPs removal from wastewater, and single and combined fouling of nanoparti...

Polyamide Forward Osmosis Membrane: Synthesis, Characterization and Its Performance for Humic Acid Removal

In this research, modification on the ultrafiltration (UF) membrane by synthesis of a thin layer of polyamide selective layer was designed for high performances of forward osmosis (FO) water treatment. Two monomers, m-Phenylenediamine (MPD) and Trimesoyl chloride (TMC) with different concentrations of MPD (2.0% w/v and 1.0% w/v) were reacted with TMC (0.15% w/v) for interfacial polymerization (...
